Bamboo Clothing, Why Is It Better?

We’re fond of bamboo clothing here at Natural Collection, but the question is, why exactly is bamboo clothing a better option? Firstly, let’s have a look at two of our brands to figure out why they use bamboo:

Doris & Dude

Doris and Dude Socks

Doris & Dude socks are made from 75% bamboo, 20% organic cotton and 5% spandex. Why put bamboo in socks in particular? It’s because bamboo is wonderfully soft, and has certain properties that benefit your feet: anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties to defend feet against sweat and fungal infections like athlete’s foot.

Braintree (now Thought)

Braintree have bamboo in some underwear, tops and slacks. Many are also made of a viscose derived from bamboo. Bamboo is breathable (a good trait for socks and underwear), and can help your temperature – it helps warm you up if you’re chilly and cool you down if you’re a bit too hot.

Sustainability

Bamboo is a very sustainable, low impact material. By ‘low impact’ we mean the processes used to make it don’t impact the environment greatly, especially in comparison to other widely used materials.

So, is bamboo better?

To sum it up, I personally think yes! Bamboo has some great properties that add some pretty good benefits to clothing. In addition to that it’s sustainable and doesn’t cause as much harm to the environment.

Here at Natural Collection many brands (not just clothing) use bamboo in their products. It’s worth taking a look at our sustainability tag too, so you can find out which materials that have been made into products are sustainable and have not greaty impacted the environment.

Do you own any bamboo clothing? What do you think of it? Let us know!
