Summer Skin Care Tips

As the weather changes, so too should our skin care routines. What is good for your skin in the cold months isn’t necessarily beneficial in the summer. Using natural, organic skin care products is so much better for you as there are no potentially harmful chemicals in the products that will be absorbed into your body.

We offer a huge range of natural beauty products that you can incorporate into your daily routine. They lovingly nourish your skin with botanical extracts and plant based ingredients to bring you closer to nature. Our policy is to never sell products that are tested on animals, and we make sure to have a huge choice for vegans. See our top Ethical Summer Skin Care tips below:

Cleanse

It’s really important to cleanse your face to remove make up and impurities. Once in the morning and then again before you go to bed should be enough to really clean your skin and leave it feeling fresh and ready to be moisturised. If you are a heavy make up wearer, or are wearing SPF (absolutely a must for the summer) it can be a good idea to double cleanse for a deep clean.

Simply massage the required amount of cleanser into your face and neck, and then wipe away with a damp flannel or soft muslin cloth. It’s that simple!

If you’re one for getting in late or waking up with 10 minutes to get out the door, at least opt for a quick cleanse using face wipes, like these Natracare Organic Cleansing Make Up Removal Wipes.

Exfoliate

A gentle, micro-bead free exfoliator is great for removing dead skin cells. This reduces build up and blocked pores, leaving you with super soft skin and reducing the frequency of breakouts. Using a gentle cleanser is better for your skin as it’s not too abrasive, which can sting quite a bit. However it is recommended to give your skin a really good scrub about once a week. You don’t need to exfoliate every day, every other day or every third day is enough to keep it in tip-top condition.

Moisturise

natural moisturiser

Make sure you keep your skin hydrated this summer. After cleansing apply a light moisturiser, or something a little heavier overnight to give your skin the nourishment it needs to stay healthy and supple. Moisturising every day is essential if you have dry skin to give it an extra hydrating boost.

Protect

sun careAbsolutely, 100% make sure you use an SPF during the summer. Really this is something we should be using all year round to protect us from the suns harmful UV rays as they cause aging and burning. During the summer when the sun is high it’s especially important.

Your SPF should be the last thing you use on your skin. Of course for those of us who love our make up this isn’t going to be an option, just make sure you put it on after your moisturiser – or better yet use a moisturiser with SPF.

We have some great natural facial sun creams available for you to choose from:

Organii Facial Sun Cream SPF15 – 50ml£12.90

Jason Facial Sun Cream SPF20 – 128g£12.99

Green People Scent Free Facial Sun Cream SPF30 – 50ml – £16.50

Treat

natural face masksWe would recommend giving your skin a treat at least once a week with a lovely, natural and organic face mask. There’s a huge range of face masks available out there along with plenty of DIY tutorials on Pinterest.

Our Earth’s Kiss face masks are relatively new products and cost £1.99 each. The Aura Manuka Honey Mask from Antipodes is very pricey at £21.95 but it’s honestly worth it, it’s one of my favourite masks. It has a light scent, creamy texture and it doesn’t dry out on your face, leaving your skin super soft.
