Fairly Traded Soap Nuts
The soap nut tree grows in India and produces these amazing nuts, which have a 12-14% saponin content. These particular soap nuts are collected by tribal people and small-scale farmers in India and then fairly traded with Planet Pure, who guarantees these farmers are paid a fair price for the nuts. The nuts are then packaged in Austria, as part of the amazing social project mentioned left.
Planet Pure This fantastic new range of cleaning products is supplied by an amazing organisation, who aims to reduce its environmental impact to an absolute minimum. We were really impressed at the efforts they go to at each stage of the production process to ensure social and environmental responsibility. They even make a special point of employing socially disadvantaged people (currently around 40% their workforce in Austria) – especially in the production process, where they try to avoid machine processing wherever possible. They have also initiated an aid project: ‘Children and the Environment’ in Himachal Pradesh in the Himalayas. The whole range is designed to produce minimal impact on aquatic organisms and is produced using renewable plant-based ingredients.
