Namaste is a widely used greeting in Nepal and India. The literal translation is “I salute the Spirit within you!”

Namaste was born out of a trip made to India and Nepal in 1995/1996. The founders embarked on an adventure which would ultimately prove to be even more challenging than they'd imagined as they travelled the length of India on old Indian ‘Enfield Bullet’ motorbikes. They were so inspired by the people and their amazing crafts and, determined not to join the Corporate Ladder, decided to set up an import business on a Fair Trade basis. The rest, as they say, ‘is history’!

All Namaste suppliers ensure that their workers are paid a fair price per piece, which is above the national average, and men and women are paid the same rate.

Namaste products all use azo-free dyes. These create a safer working environment for the producers and are far more eco friendly than most chemical dyes in common use in these regions. Many of their products are made entirely from recycled materials, which are used wherever possible.
