Locally Produced (UK) Products
100 years ago nearly all the food we ate came from within 20 miles of our homes. Now locally produced foods are far more difficult to track down, and with the majority of people doing much of their shopping in supermarkets, the idea of local produce is at risk of becoming a thing of the past.
However, local produce is fighting back! Sourcing foods locally is better news for the environment, massively reducing road miles and air miles, and therefore CO2 emissions, and great news for our local famers, butchers and bakers and candlestick makers. In fact, it’s hard to think of a reason not to jump on the bandwagon!
