The Khiva is a truly traditional Indian kilim rug, both in its making and typical Central Asian design. Panja handloomed fabrics are made with thick threads and skilfully woven using a tool of the same name. The 80% wool and 20% cotton mix make for a resilient rug, remaining soft to the touch. The intricate pattern and warm shades are of the kind traded by merchants on the ancient Silk Road, taking in the town of Khiva. Raspberry and plum tones are highlighted with pale gold, light blue and white contrasts. Finished with fringed edging to the shorter sides, this rug is beautifully bohemian, classically cultural.
