Product Description
This gorgeous ornamental tree has an abundance of dainty, aromatic leaves all year. Its star-like white flowers blossom in late summer with a wonderful fragrance that is loved by our bees. The Myrtle tree’s edible blueberries ripen in autumn and are treasured for their delicious spicy-sweet flavour. Traditionally, the berries are steeped in alcohol to make the delicious liqueur, Mirto.
The dainty Myrtle tree will happily thrive in any garden, balcony or cool conservatory and can be clipped into a formal shape using topiary.
Every Myrtle is organically nurtured in The Present Tree's gardens, where harmful chemicals or pesticides are never used, just a natural blend of organic oils that are wonderful for you, your tree, our wildlife and the planet. When you place your order a beautiful tree will be freshly selected by The Present Trees devoted gardeners, before being carefully wrapped in organza and placed in a luxury parcel.
An exclusively designed card with the story of the Myrtle tree's ancient symbolism and a full care guide is also enclosed with your gift.
In ancient mythology the Myrtle tree is sacred and symbolises love, harmony and joy.
Your parcel travels in a clear eco bag so the couriers and recipients are aware a living tree is inside it and must be opened as soon as possible.
Care Instructions
Your Myrtle tree will happily grow in its organic pot for the next few weeks, just place it in a sunny spot outside or in a cool conservatory. It can tolerate winter temperatures as low as -1C.
Myrtle appreciate being drenched with water (fresh rain water is best) when the soil is almost dry. Your Myrtle tree’s compost has added nutrients to create the perfect balance of nourishment; this organic goodness will slowly release into the soil to ensure your tree continues to flourish. Plant your Myrtle tree (still in its organic pot so the roots are not disturbed) in a large flower pot, one with holes for drainage, or in a sunny spot in the garden, away from cold winds.
This Myrtle tree is 40-45cm high and growing in a 15cm pot. Myrtle trees enjoy being lightly pruned in late spring to encourage new growth and may be clipped into a formal topiary shape. They can reach a height of 2 metres in 10 years, if allowed to grow naturally.
