Artizan International

Founded in 2013 by Susie Hart MBE, Artizan International is a social enterprise based in Harrogate dedicated to empowering people with disabilities both in the UK and abroad. Inspired by Susie's decade of work in Tanzania with Neema Crafts, where she helped provide employment for over 120 people with disabilities, Artizan International aims to replicate this model in other developing countries. The organisation offers therapeutic crafts and skills training, creating sustainable employment opportunities for artisans. By focusing on ability rather than disability, Artizan International helps individuals gain independence, showcase their talents, and transform their lives through creative expression.

In the UK, Artizan International runs free weekly craft sessions, offering a supportive space for adults with disabilities to connect, learn new skills, and become active members of their communities. For artisans in developing countries, the organization provides training and opportunities to rise above poverty and social stigma. Through its programmes, Artizan International fosters a more inclusive society, where people of all abilities are respected, valued, and given the chance to reach their full potential. Their vision is to create a world where everyone can contribute creatively and economically, breaking down barriers and changing perceptions about disability.
