Kilombero is superior and highly versatile rice from Malawi. The fair trade rice is grown by smallholder farmers who are part of NASFAM, (National Smallholder Farmers’ Association of Malawi) which is the largest independent, smallholder-owned membership organisation in Malawi. It is founded on the principles of collective action and is democratically governed by its members – 60% of whom are women. It provides training, reasonably priced farm inputs and a fair price for their products to its members.

We like the delicate flavour
This has to be my favourite rice. I'm also a fan of basmati, so the first time I cooked this, I cooked it the same as pilau rice, allowing the water to be completely absorbed, to give a rice that retained its texture, and separated easily.rnThe taste and texture of this rice is just amazing. It has a faintly nutty, aromatic taste and a firm smooth texture with just a little bit of bounce. rnI would definitely recommend it to anyone that likes their rice to have character.
