Q: what kind of bulb does the lamp use and how long should it last?

A: The light is fitted with a Halogen Dichroic MR16 12v20w. The bulb is a high performance unit which delivers the equivalent light to a 35w Halogen Dichroic. The key benefits of this higher performance are lower energy consumption and lower heat. Bulb life is rated for an average of 4,000hrs, or 3hrs per day every day for four years. I hope that helps.
