This eco friendly washing bag is made of untreated nylon and is a pragmatic solution to prevent synthetic microfibers from entering into rivers and oceans. Every time you wash your clothes, tiny fragments of almost invisible fibres from the garment get washed into our rivers, water ways and oceans, so small that sewage treatment plants cannot effectively filter out these micro fibres. Once in the environment, these micro fibres are consumed by aquatic organisms, which can result in gastrointestinal infections and blockages, reproductive problems, and starvation – problems that ultimately work their way up the food chain.
The Guppyfriend bag captures micro fibres and hinders them from making their way into the marine ecosystem. After a while you can peel out a ball of fibres and discard it in the plastic recycling bin.
Due to Its soft surface, it also results in less fibre loss which protects your garments thus extending their lifetime as well as being a daily reminder to wash less and to buy better - something we can all do to make a difference.
Plastic pollution in the oceans is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time, and the Guppyfriend is a great option for everyone who wants to do their bit to prevent plastic emissions and promote environmental friendly living.50x75 cm

PLEASE NOTE: Liquid detergent should be used and not powder for best results. In tests done by the manufacturer, the Guppyfriend was washed at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Therefore, we do not recommend washing hotter than 40°

I too have found that the zip on my Guppyfriend bag is of very poor quality. The small metal pull tab on the zipper soon came off and disappeared into my washing machine, never to be seen again. (I hope it doesn’t ever manage to foul up my machine by becoming lodged in the drum mechanism!) Consequently, it is EXTREMELY difficult to open and close the bag, and it has left sharp bits of metal exposed from the small part of the zipper that is left. This can snag and damage other clothes in the wash. The bag itself is very substantial, so it is a great shame (and a big waste of money!) that the poor quality zip has let this otherwise worthwhile product down.
I fully support the purpose of Guppyfriend Washing Bags, but I'm doubtful about the quality of these bags.rnrnI bought one 18 months ago, and have used it roughly once a week since then. On Sunday the metal zip pull broke away from the body of the metal zip body, indicating that a very poor quality metal has been used for the zip body. (Does anyone have the experience of the metal zip pull breaking on trouser zips after only 18 months? I certainly don't.) Today, Tuesday, the zip body failed to fasten the plastic [?] zip teeth, making the whole bag useless. This indicates poor design - it's obvious that the zip teeth are a potential stress point for the bag, given that clothes moving around inside it during a wash will come into contact with / be pushed against the sealed zip teeth.rnrnI recognise that early stages of a new product may be less than ideal; however, given that this bag is smallish - you can't fit a whole wash in it - and expensive for what it is - a simply constructed bag with a zip made of a particular type of textile that I don't think is made under fairtrade conditions - I don't think lasting for only 18 months is very good. I would expect 5 years' 1x a week usage.rnrnGuppyfriend need to do better please.
