Handcrafted in the Dharavi slums of Mumbai, these beautiful clay pots with candles help support street children and the Dalit people of India.
Measuring just under 3cm high, these delightful miniature candles in handcrafted smooth clay pots make a beautiful alternative to basic tealights and have a gorgeous lavender aroma.
About the Producers: For hundreds of years the Dalit people in India have been known as the 'untouchables', people, expected to drink from clay cups which are then destroyed. Life Association, the charity behind Dalit Candles invite people in Mumbai to create these clay pots and then fill them with the finest beeswax. The clay pot candles are sold in the UK and make a stand against this powerful symbol of oppression. The profits from the sale of these candles go straight back to the help the Dalit people of India.

I have used Dalit candle pots for years. They burn well and are pleasantly-scented. Because the flame sinks into the opaque pots as the wax is consumed, if you want the best light out of it, positioning is important (I tend to put mine in a white alcove which reflects light, or below eye-level), always remembering candle safety of course.
This is such a great cause - and the Dalit range of products is lovely! These are so pretty in their little hand made ceramic containers and smell amazing, really a delightful fragrance! A beautiful gift - or as a treat for yourself, these candles really are brilliant!

They smell gorgeous, slightly sweeter smell (almost like sweet incense) than I thought they would be, but I'm glad I bought them as the money goes towards a very good cause. I would recommend to anyone that likes sweet smelling natural candles.
