Spice Kitchen
Spice Kitchen is a truly homegrown family business, founded in 2012 by Shashi Aggarwal and her son Sanjay at Shashi's own kitchen table. They began with a single market stall at Altrincham Market and a signature product: the Indian Spice Tin, a treasure trove of aromatic spices for adventurous cooks to discover and experiment with. It even came wrapped in sari fabric for that unique personal touch. Now it's just one of the many themed spice tins they offer.
Spice Kitchen supports the Akshaya Patra Foundation, a charity supplying free school meals for children in India, and Curry for Change, a fundraising organisation helping to feed rural families in Asia and Africa. Their spice tins still come "dressed" in saris, but now they're sewn by a team of seamstresses - an opportunity for Spice Kitchen to provide employment to socially disadvantaged people.
