We all know the importance of finding more sustainable, plastic free alternatives when creating an eco-friendly lifestyle. When we founded LoofCo in 2017, our mission was to create products that offer simple, affordable switches while helping to reduce household plastic use & waste including the microplastic particles released by plastic washing-up scourers, sponges & brushes.
We are delighted to introduce Maemara onto the site with a beautiful range of new sustainable homeware. Founded in 2019, Maemara is a brand with a conscience, founded by three earth and ocean-loving individuals – Hannah, Alan and Jane. Their gorgeous cushions are both stylish and sustainable, made with 100% recycled materials both inside and out.
Now more than ever we are aware of the importance of our cleanliness, both personal hygiene and around our home. Conventional household cleaners tend to use harsh and sometimes toxic chemicals that are abrasive and can irritate. However, there are much simpler natural cleaning alternatives you can use that are gentle yet effective.
We’ve put together a short list of tips and suggestions for cleaning your home naturally, which you can find below. Be sure to let us know in the comments if you try any, or if you have your own tips to share.

Toilet roll is one of the most common household items. Unfortunately toilet roll can be really damaging to the environment, not only in flushing but also during production since it’s made from trees! Most toilet paper is FSC certified so it comes from sustainable sources, and recycled toilet tissue is an option. We’d like to introduce you to The Cheeky Panda – if you haven’t already tried it – toilet paper made from bamboo!
Bamboo grows 30 times faster than a tree, producing 30% more oxygen and absorbing 35% more carbon. Bamboo is wasted because it grows so fast and must be harvested at least once a year. If not it will flower and attract rodents which can have a devastating effect on the ecosystem.
Chris & Julie – the founders of The Cheeky Panda, decided to use this waste bamboo to create luxuriously soft, sustainable and eco-friendly toilet roll which is also anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and hypo-allergenic. The toilet tissue is free from any harsh chemicals like formaldehyde and it BPA free.
The Cheeky Panda is a very new company, and has already been a finalist in the Virgin VOOM awards, Business Green Leaders Awards, Essex Business Excellence Awards and The Lloyds Bank National Business Awards. It’s not hard to see why, The Cheeky Panda has grown a lot as a company in the last year. Yet it still manages to keep the environment and sustainability at its core. The toilet paper is 100% FSC Certified, uses bamboo that is far from Panda’s habitats, and comes in recyclable packaging!

I’ve been using Bio D laundry liquid for about two years now and honestly I wouldn’t go back. The thing I love about Bio D is that it uses mainly plant based ingredients which is particularly great for laundry liquid and fabric conditioners which can really irritate my skin otherwise.
One of my least favourite things when cleaning is that strong chemical smell – it seems completely unnatural for my kitchen to remind me of some kind of chemical plant, I mean is it really too much to ask for a clean home that still smells like a home? Continue reading Earth Friendly Cleaning
